today was the 17th worldwide sketchcrawl, and I stayed in davis; it was a very small group, and met at mishka's cafe to sketch...the sun was shining, ad though it was a cold morning, it got warmer. I went off solo after a bit and sketched downtown all day.

amillionpieces / Website (20.1.08 18:27) Great pictures, I really like the one in the bar bottom left. I am quite intrigued by the independent book store too, I like the idea of those, is it good? |

petescully / Website (20.1.08 21:26) cheers! yes, it is a very good shop, i was their bookkeeper for two years. They hold loads of events. Sadly, another independent bookshop in town closed in the new year, though. I used to work for an independent bookshop in London, family run; sadly they too closed in the end. Avid Reader's going strong though, and this year opened another shop, at the Tower theater in Sacramaneto, taking over the old Tower bookstore (part of the original Tower Records, which has now folded). |

simplelsie / Website (22.1.08 05:08) What a productive day you had and your drawings are beautiful. What kind of gear do you tote around when you go sketching? I'd very much like to know. Thank you. |

petescully / Website (22.1.08 08:27) I carry a pretty small shoulder bag, and a large moleskine sketchbook, and a set of w&n cotman watercolours, a small jar of water, a couple of brushes, some pencils and a few micron pigma, copic fineliner and staedtler fineliner pens. Sometimes I carry a second tiny jar of water. My sketching kit can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/petescully/1348209892/" |
