illustration friday: "leap"

Illustration Friday: "Leap"

I decided to finally do a picture for illustration friday, whose topic this week is "Leap". Suicide Bridge leapt to mind. I used to live yards away from this sad and infamous bridge, on Hornsey Lane in north London. I'm told the same fact is true for the golden gate bridge. Drawing-wise, i don't know what i was thinking with that green but it was intentional at the time. I miss this view, reminds me of getting the 134 bus down from Finchley, or walking home across the bridge desperately needing the loo, or my dad telling me all about it when we'd cross over it when i was a kid.

I really like this for being one of the few IFs that implies the leap and doesn't show it. Really great work.

Such a dry funny thing...understated irony...I also like your tree pic posted below as well as the explanation...although I will not admit to having a tree hugging addiction (I'm all for being good stewards though lest you think I walk around with an ax in hand...)

I found your site a while back and have been watching regularly because I love your watercolors. I do watercolor myself and there's something inspiring about seeing someone who can do interesting things with watercolor.

This interpretation of Leap is lovely and sad. I like when you have to think about the link between the word and the art.

Thanks for the memory...I knew someone who took that trip. But I still think it's a lovely bridge. Weren't the trees London Planes?

Perhaps that people even in their darkest moments still are attracted to beauty?
I liked your entry, it made me ponder.
