pain in the english

Interesting debates about language going on over at pain in the english, people asking questions, "what is right?" "what is wrong?", looking for a correct grammar. Now while there are norms people adhere to (that is why I try to spell things the way everybody else does) we have to accept that language does change, and norms change, and what was once unacceptable becomes acceptable, and vice-versa. Go and take a look.

I bet that none of these people got invited to partys at school. I'll further bet that none of them get invited to partys now!

Craig Ferguson has his own show?? Oh dear. Mind you, you guys like Alan Cumming don't you (Americans that is, not necessarily you and your good lady wife!) What's the appeal?
We've got loads of other shitehawks we could export. I shall compile a list.

They do like him (but he was good in X Men so I'll allow it).
Yes, Craig Ferguson really does have his own show, every night, just after Letterman, and it truly is as bad as you might imagine it to be. They appear to like him here. His catchphrase is 'hello my cheeky monkeys'. It's dreadful, truly dreadful.
And please please don't export any more shitehawks! I escaped Pretty Bad British tv to encounter Far Worse American tv, I couldn't handle it if they suddenly decided someone like, I dunno, Norman Pace needed a US talk show. Ooh, even the thought of that makes me want to die.

Oh, and those people at parties, well I'd invite them to my house, certainly, but they'd have to bring their own beer, and listen to me all night. Only fair.
