Eight months is actually the longest single span of time that I've been away from England; all the other times I lived outre-mer I managed to get home every few months or so. So naturally, many things have changed - I was up in Edgware the other day, which used to sit fairly comfortably above Burnt Oak in the scummy area standings, but has now not only gone to the dogs, but gone for a curry and puked up in the taxi home afterwards too. It's awful up there now, and I base this mostly on the fact that my favourite record store in the world, Loppylugs, has closed down. I walked down to the corner of Station Road, hoping to pop into the little store for old time's sake, but was greeted with a postered-over shopfront and the peeling paint of an old Loppylugs sign. Admittedly, they hadn't really had my business much over the past few years, nor anyone else's by the sound of it, but it was still a shock to find a gravestone in place of a record shop. It had been there my whole life. I'd bought my first David Devant record there ('Ginger'; I stupidly only got the CD, and not the ginger vinyl as well, oh how I wish I had that now). I still remember the old 'Loppylugs Records' adverts that were announced in a faux-US accent in the long-gone ABC cinema that used to be the focal point of Edgware (replaced by flats and a gym). Also gone was Music Stop, a guitar shop at the other end of Station Road. I wasn't sure, as it was not yet decorated by the wanted felon Bill Posters, but on closer inspection not an e-string was left in the store. While my nose was pressed sadly against the window looking for ghosts of basses I never bought, the guy who used to work in there told me that it was forced out of business a couple of weeks ago. Everything in Edgware is going, he said. Around the corner, the old second-hand bookstore where I bought scores of Jackson/Livingstone gamebooks as a teenager, had vanished into history. Just across the road, the venerable (and supposedly listed) mock-Tudor Railway Tavern, one of the few proper pubs left in Edgware, lay empty, ready for conversion into - you got it - more flats. It's incredible that a place sliding so far downhill it could end up in the English Channel is suddenly destination number one for new apartment buildings. As if anyone would really want to live there any more. A few years ago this young film-maker made a short called 'The Edgware Walker', which is often shown late at night on ITV or one of them channels. It's about this guy, reputedly a doctor in a past existence, who we used to see wandering about Edgware in little more than shorts, his grizzled body hunched and bent over, marching up and down Station Road, day and night. I forget his right name now, but I remember him, and I remember when he died. Anyway, this short film spoke to people all over Edgware, from Broadfields to Whitchurch, who knew of the guy, a permanent fixture in Edgware life, before depressing them with news of his death. He summarised by saying that when the Edgware Walker died, Edgware died with him, 'a shit town'. And he's right; behind the Ben Sherman shirts and flags of St George, the soul of this frontier suburb has been diluted to trace. It's a sad tale.

pog (9.6.06 10:56) Excellent post, Mr Scully - and very sad. |
petescully / Website (9.6.06 15:16) it really is very sad. I don't think I can ever go back. |
dcs234 / Website (11.6.06 17:33) I'm sorry to hear about Loppylugs. I remember buying Come on Eileen on 7" there after I saw Dexy's on TOTP. The following week the single went to No. 1 and I felt proud. I've long since mourned the loss of the Edgware ABC where I had my first snog in the back row watching Blade Runner. As for the Edgware walker, I spoke to him more than a couple of times. He used to often stop and asked me questions when he saw my skullcap. He used to walk all the way up to the Orthopedic hospital and clean all the ashtrays in the staff canteen. That was probably the source of the rumours about him being a former doctor. Edgware is not the same without him. I left 10 years ago. |
petescully / Website (15.6.06 22:43) The name people in Burnt Oak knew him by was 'monkey man', because of his hunched posture. |
Josh Holzman (4.8.06 11:13) So many memories sad to say it Edgware is dead. I remember Loppylugs what happened to Azar and his merry crew (especially when Azar was having his moments). As to the Edgware walker one of the nicest men you could come across probably the only person who could get away with looking like that and, living on Canons Drive especially given what their resident association was like. What about the ducks definitly had some attitude and did'nt half take their time crossing the road thought they owned it. |
petescully / Website (5.8.06 02:01) The ducks around here really do own the road, loads of them in Davis. I am still gutted about Loppylugs. Many a rainy Sunday afternoon was spent in there flicking through records and (eventually) CDs. |
Rakib Ahmed (31.10.06 06:23) Hi. Strangely enjoyable to find something about my home town on the net so many thanks for this blog-post-thingummy. And 'right on' you are in your comments, too. Though I think what you've said about Edgware goes for most of London and most places in England and who knows maybe the whole world! However, there's still a bookshop -2jays and a nice pub -the blacking bottle- on the high street, the ducks and geese still own that section of canon's drive - so there's plenty of time for things to get worse! And indeed, there seem to be more Orthodox Jews than previously - edgware is now part of an eruv like golders green - and they give the place some badly needed character. The chief horror is still the Broadwalk but the McDonald's has mysteriously disappeared. Concerning the old man, whom i can still in my mind's eye see rummaging through the bins of station road (!), I have it on good authority that he was a surgeon and the cause of his madness was that he had to operate on his son whom he was unable to save. Very sad but true. |
Rob Henry (13.12.06 21:48) I was brought up in Edgware until I left in the late 90`s. Sad that Loppylugs has gone and I was shocked to see Music Stop gone as well when I was back recently. Place has gone downhill - it used to have character and atmosphere. I remember Dinos Coffee Bar in the station - always the place to go after the bus got in from school. Memories - thats all I have now. |
Laura (8.3.07 09:35) Hi.......used to live in Edgware too....remember Loppy lugs well!! I hear there is still a good record store (small)one in the area called rockmem..anyone out there know where abouts it is? I have been recommended it as a place to buy great rock.music stuff..help! cannot find it! |

Michael K. (24.7.07 17:07) Hi: I used to live in Edgware. Left in 1982 to pursue graduate studies in the US, where I have remained. I return from time to time and find Edgware High Street area somewhat depressing nowadays but the area where I used to live - Broadfields estate, is fairly much the same. I remember when Loppylugs opened (I am older). I liked that shop and also Siegers down on the corner of the High Street and Edgware Road. I used to have a Saturday job in the toy shop (then called Brookfields), a couple of doors down from Siegers. I learned recently that Edgware Town FC have been forced to leave their White Lion ground - flats are being built there. Sad about the Railway Inn but it was getting really run down - it's really too bad. M. |
petescully / Website (25.7.07 05:04) thanks for commenting1 i remember steven siegers place, it moved to mill hill in the end i remember. that's bad news about edgware town, but typical i suppose. i'm still gutted they knocked down the white lion pub years ago. even edgware school is now 'london academy'. still, the best curries in the world are still found in that little indian place on manor park crescent. If that ever goes, then everything is lost. |
Shadow (16.10.07 23:35) Rakib Ahmed Im afraid your comments on the edgware walker are incorrect this link has correct information about him and how he died hxxp://shootingpeople.org/shooterfilms/interview.php?int_id=59 I agree with you edgware has got to pot. Its just another dingy hole now . |
Rob Henry (24.10.07 13:31) Stephen Siger store also vanished from Mill Hill - I guess the internet sealed his demise but when he was in Edgware, he was a diamond source of "Old Gold 12" singles where you coud find tracks you lost years before. The walking man died and with him, also died some of the history of Edgware. Loppylugs is now a cafe, although others have opened and closed very quickly in the last year or so. There was also a shop where you could buy car stuff- I think it was opposite Blockbuster. Anyone recall when Sainsburys was where Blockbuster is now (pre-Broadwalk days) and when Bejam and Breaker one-four ruled the High Street. By the way, Edgware Town have regained licence for White Lion ground so are there for another year or 2. |
petescully / Website (25.10.07 17:39) that's good news about edgware town. yes, i think a sainsbury's where blockbusters was, i think i do remember, very vaguely, and wasn't there a scrapyard where the broadwalk carpark is? loppylugs is now a cafe? jeez. funny how edgware library doesn't ever change though, still exactly as it's always been (at least, last time i was there) |
Miles (3.1.08 11:43) Superb. Worked in Edgware for a year and hated it, still filled with dread when I drive through it but mainly because the job itself was so shitty. My favourite thing about Edgware now is the tiny little afro-carribean shops where I'd spend many a lunch break talking carribean cooking with the shop vendors, encouraging me to throw this and that, ocre, plantain etc into my cooking. I heard viscious rumours that McDonalds closed due to the semen content of their milkshakes... I miss the walker. |
DanielB (8.1.08 21:07) And now the local shop 'Trustin Fairbag' has shut down! Woe is us! |
Jon G. (13.1.08 18:35) I was born in Edware in 1962 and liver there until 1998 when I moved out to Hertfordshire. On the odd occassion when I have gone back to Edgware, I cannot believe how its changed, and certainly not for the better. It now looks like a run down North London town, it used to be quite exclusive and almost 'Posh' ! I too remember when Loppylugs opened their doors for the first time, I was there every Sat morning buying myself a 45rpm single ! I also remember the 'Edgware Walker', he often used to pass the electrical shop I owned on Station Rd during the 1980's and we would often have a brief chat. about all things general. My old school, Edgware Comp, has changed beyond recognition and to be honest, There was indeed a car breakers yard where the Broadwalk shopping centre now stands and this was on the old Edgware Station steam train line. Does anyone remember 'Seabrooks' whch was an old junk shop in the High Street run by an old Polish/German man ? I think the best thing I ever did was to move out to Hertfordshire as its all changed so much, I dont miss Edgware one bit, which is a great shame as it was such a great place to be brought up...Hey Ho, aint memories and poss rose tinted specs great !! |
Jon G. (13.1.08 18:37) P.S I also remember Stephen Sieger Records...I used to go to school with one of his daughters and fancied her like mad, just like most of the other 10-12 year old boys !! Sorry Jackie !! |
petescully / Website (13.1.08 21:44) Yeah, i used to go to Edgware school, i remember when they wouldn't let us use the field at break times, now they've built a while new school on it. Not even mr blindt is there now. Trustin Fairbag has closed? Blimey. I remember when edgware was considered posh. But then i'm a burnt oaker, so i still do... |
lw (20.1.08 01:48) i love someone in edgware... |
Raquib Acmed (3.2.08 14:04) Thanks. I very much appreciate being set right, especially by someone called 'shadow'! By the way can a site which spells Edgware as 'Edgeware' -perhaps the ultimate crime for an Edgwarian (ok, it only does this once but at the first mention) - I repeat, can such a site be trusted? P.S. Loppylugs may have gone but Luvabitch is still there, thank God. |
Rob Henry (11.2.08 21:25) I drove through Edgware last week and was amazed to see that Blockbuster had gone as well. I wonder how long it will be before that site is sold to developers for flats?? |
Nicky (26.4.08 15:17) No, strangely enough. Blockbuster that used to be Sainsbury's is going to become Tesco |

Richard Hart (10.7.08 11:51) Hi, I lived in Edgware until from 1964 to 191=81, came back after uni and stayed until 1986, when mum and dad went up to Luton, and I moved in with my girlfriend in Barnet. I worked in Sainsbury's, and before that in the Coop butchers across the road. i was in the 2nd Edgware Scout group from cubs right up until about 1988, when I left afetr being Scout Leader for about a year. I spent the first 8 years of my life in Edgware living on the 10th floor of Stamford Court on the Spur Road estate (sadly I hear a lad was stabbed to death outside it-what an indicator of current times), until we moved into a house in Kings Drive. I can remember the Stonegrove estate being built. I also went to Edgware Comprehensive. My favourite teachers were Mr lewishon (English), Miss Robertson (English) and Dr. Oliver. Mr Laniado was my maths teacher, and we REALLY did not have a good relationship. I passed the Edgware Walker several times when i used to walk into town, and I remember the legend that he used to be a doctor. Does anyone remember Smokey Joe, the tramp who lived up on Brockley Hill/Pear Wood? He used to come into town pushing his wheel barrow, forage for the day, then go back up the hill. Must have taken him ages.my mum popped back down into Edgware and Stanmore last year to see an old friend, and she was horrified at what had happened to the place.Oh, and I bought one LP from Loppylugs, which was damaged. When I took it back to replace it, the person behind the counter got really stroppy, said there was nothing wrong with it, and refused to give me my money back or a replacement.Needless to say that was the last time I shopped there, and I am not surprised they have gone. No tears shed here for that. |

jill mctighe (2.9.08 21:06) my father did indeed work at the old scrapyard in edgware.I remember it very well with woolworth,s on the high street.I grew up on that scrapyard and i hadve some excellant memories. My father,s the one with the motorbike,i went home greasy and dirty but it was excellant fun.If my memmory serves me well there was a laundrette down on the left on the bend of the high rd, i was only 3 or 4 when my father worked there and it closed when i dont know, if someone can help fill in the blanks or if u even worked there or no someone who did plse plse let me know from the little girl who grew up in that scrapyard x x x |

Guitar_Slinger (27.1.09 00:02) Interesting blog & comments. I moved from Liverpool ot Hendon in '88, but used to travel to Edgware to rock nights at the Beehive. Later, I played in a band (Primevil) at the White Lion and we played the last night it was open... the crowd trashed the pub afterwards. On my 35th birthday, I rented the upstairs room at The Railway for my party. In '96 I bought a house in Burnt Oak and worked for a year at the Govt buildings in Stanmore and remember seeing the Edgware Walker many times. I also worked for the motorcycle training school that moved from Hendon into Rex Judd's before it closed. The school is now at the back of the funeral directors, near where The Beehive was. I read this thread as a somebody who grew up 200 miles from Edgware, but realised that I've been hanging out there for 17 years. I agree it's not what it was. |
Tessie O (17.2.09 11:55) I used to live in Stanmore in the 70's and my brothers and sisters were regulars at the old ABC and Sunday lunchtime at the Beehive. Now I pass through the town almost everday on route to work and it is not a pretty site. Always choka with traffic and there's not really much reason to park up and wonder. Shame to see the Railway go to rack and ruin and you just know its only a matter of time before the builders go in. |

Simon (20.2.09 20:10) Anyone remember an old style english Deli in the high street called Cheelds? |

Alec Gallagher (12.5.09 07:17) I was born in Edgware General Hospital in 1958, went to school at Edgware Infants and Junior Schools, and like my old friend Richard Hart (above - Hi Richard!) was a member of the 2nd Edgware Scout Group, based just off Station Road in Rectory Lane. Yes, Edgware is a hole nowadays, and I am glad I am well away from it. I can remember when Sainsbury's moved from Station Road and opened their new store on the corner of Hale Lane and The Drive. At the time it was their flagship store, the biggest and best Sainsbury's could offer. It is now a Tesco Metro! |
TAXFREE (10.10.09 11:18) I WAS AT EDGWARE SCHOOL SOME OF THE BEST MEMORIES....... IS THAT CHINESE ALL YOU CAN EAT....WENG WAH STILL AROUND???? IT WAS THE BEST CHINESE...TILL WE HEARD THE COOKED COCKROACHES!!!! MISS EDGWARE BUT I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! |
(9.11.09 19:31) I remember the Queen Mother opening the Spur Rad Estate, I went to Edgware School from 1959-1965 I loved it except for the spankophile Mr Barnes, he should be arrested!! We hada great reunion 7 years ago of the clases of the 60's Station Rd used to be very upmarket. High Street & Whitchurch Lane a littles less so , good helpsfull shops. After Breant Cross opened Edgware died. |
Jacky (3.12.09 15:46) I came to edgware as a child in 59 and went to broadfields school where parents worked to gether and built the swimming pool. Mr Mcfarlane was headmaster and ruled like a brigader . my god edgware was posh. Stanley J Lee department store run by the daughters with internal tube system for the money. Elliots shoes with the poshest Manager in the world and branches in the west end . They still used hand butter pats in the fully tiled Sainsburys on Station Road and wrapped it in greasproof. Cullens were at the bottom of Hale Lane . the ballet classes were opposite the cinema where the flats are now. No bus service up broad fielsd if you wanted to get into edgware you walked . I didnt notice The Edgware walker until the late 70's. But i do remeber the local policeman and the boys brigade marches on Sunday mornings. It all seems a long time ago |
Elaine (10.2.10 13:00) I was born in Edgware in 1953 & went to Broadfields then Orange Hill. I remember all of the above! Used to go to youth club at St. James' Church in Hale Lane. Eventually took over Edgware Dance Studios based at St. James. Moved to Chesham 5yrs ago but still run Chrystel Arts Theatre School in Edgware with my sister. The cafe that is in the Loppylus location has just closed down. Agree that Edgware has gone downhill. |
Steve (5.3.10 23:24) I was born at Edgware General hospital in 1957 and went to Edgware infants and junior school in St David Drive. I remember when they built the new hall and canteen in 1964 when Mr Price was the headmaster. I also used to think that Edgware was posh with large local parks, wide pavements in town with itsmodern looking cinema, a railway station and the Green Shield stamp building. Although the cinema in Burnt Oak had all the best films first! I remember when Sainsbury's marble counters were removed and made the change to become a fledgling supermarket; trolley bus rides and Green Line buses. I moved to Kent in 1966 and have only been back a couple of times . Each visit, Edgware becomes less like the place I once grew up in. Such a shame! |
Tony Tubs (22.3.10 16:21) I was born on the Kenilworth estate in 1956 and moved to Spur road estate in 1966. Moved to Northampton in 1980. Went to Edgware school and agree with the comment dated 9/11/09 felt Barnes's plimsole on more than 1 occasion. Also a member of 2nd Edgware Scouts, anyone remember Bosun with the small arm? |
Dave Miller (11.4.10 05:43) I was born in Edgware General ( Oct 1939 )I lived on 79 Vancouver Road ( downstairs ) until 1953.Spent many a night in our Anderson shelter during the bombing, until the end of the war, and the street party on VE day. I remember the day that sweets came off rationing, eating sweets until I was sick. in the 40's Burnt Oak and Edgware, were the greatest places on earth. Hardly any trouble, and you could walk around the area, any time of the day or night without fear.Things started to change in the early 50's. The film " Rock around the clock " at the Gaumont was the start, All of the front rows of seats were ripped out in a riot during the film, the kids went crazy. Teddy Boys were everywhere on the streets, and the " Burnt Oak Boot Boys " guaranteed a good punch up, if we went near the station area. We had some great fights at Watling Park. There was a cafe next to the Railway Hotel, next to the Off Licence. The cafe was run by Sid.Sid had shoulders that were enormous, at least 4 feet across. I have been there, when he barged me out of the way, while he was carrying two teenagers by the neck, out the door, with their feet off the floor. The only "foreigners" then, were Irish,Scots and a few Italians. Now if I went back, I would probably be the only true Englishman there. How times have changed, and in little more than 50 years ! Looking back, it was all good training for my stint in the Royal Marines |
caroline (16.4.10 22:23) somethings never change, Edgwareberry park, Stonyfields park and the farm, all very much as I remember them growing up in the 70's, and, as mentioned, the library, what a place, still smells the same, it's like stepping back in time. |

ken wheeler (7.7.10 19:10) Hi, i am trying to trace Arthur Green who lived in Burnt Oak and came to Newcsstle under Lyme Staffordshire as an evacuee in the war years. We became very good friends and wrote to each other when he went back home, but over a few yerrs we lost touch.I remember telling me that he was excited on account that his brother was getting married when he got back. Hope you can help me, regards Ken Wheeler |
Alec Gallagher (11.7.10 16:09) Tony Tubs asks whether anyone remembers Bosun of the 2nd Edgware Scout Group. Yes, I do! His name was Arthur Pitcher, and he was the driving force behind the group for the best part of 40 years. His 'small arm' was as a result of polio. At the start of the war he volunteered for service but was refused because of his disability. Undeterred, he instead took over the running of the 2nd Edgware while many other scouters went off to war. He was so successful that a second scout group - the 15th Edgware, based at St Andrew's church on the Broadfields estate had to be formed to cope with the numbers of boys who wanted to join. Arthur died in 1997. His service was recognised by a plaque which you can see on the wall of St. Margaret's church, Station Road, alongside another plaque to the memory of Alfred Martin, the founder of the 2nd Edgware in 1929. |

Full Marks (7.10.10 22:55) Edgware can no more escape the march of capital as a 'situ' can help himself from an opportune spot of deturnement. It's a historical inevitability. Edgware, behold the spectre of decomposition. Communistm or Barbarism. |

The school was supurb for a Sec Mod. It had its weird paedophile Barnes but that was legal then!! I live overseas but am always drwn to see the hoem town when in the UK. Its has becoem a cess pit. Colin Southgate (18.2.11 11:41) I grew up in Burnt Oak from 1946 until I married in 1968. We lived in a redbrick terrace on the Broadway formally known as Queens Terrace. My first school was Burnt Ok infants in North Road. Then I was moved to Stag Lane Primary and thence to Camrose Sec Mod. The Gaumont cinema was only a couple of hundred yards from our front door so Saturday morning pictures was a regular treat. On St Georges day the scouts and cadets would march from Edgware to the Gaumont for the traditional service. The band leading them was that of the 2nd Edgware and the drums could be felt long before they came over the brow of the hill. When I joined the scouts it had to be the 2nd Edgware! I certainly remember Bosun the group leader, a really nice man. His son was a member of the troop. Eventually i joined the band as a drummer and although I was not particularly musical, thanks to the guidance of bandmaster Mr Sam Wade I progressed through the bugle to playing the cornet. Sam Wade was a remarkable man who enabled those of who could not read music to play by marking the scores with the valves to be used. In the mid to late 50's the band enjoyed a certain degree of fame, leading the London Scouts down Pall Mall and through Admiralty Arch, appearing in a Ralph Reader production at the Albert Hall called The Voyage Of The Venturer, and even making a brief appearance on the Arthur Askey Show on TV. A couple of years ago I made a return visit to Burnt Oak and found that the only remaining old shop, Hassans Menswear, was about to close. My old friend Bob was still running his late father's barbers shop, Sids, but apart from that it seemed a sad shadow of the Burnt Oak I remember, so I shall not return again. |

pete / Website (18.2.11 16:28) Thanks for your comment and story Colin! Las time I was back, Hassan's is still there (it's been closing for a couple of years, but still around) and when I was back a couple of months ago, Bob cut my hair at Sid's barbers, (which is no longer behind Woolworths as it used to be, as Woolworths is now gone.) But even in the short time I've gone (five years from London, eight from Burnt Oak), the area's changed so much. I was in the Scouts too - 8th Edgware, behind Watling Avenue! |

chris (16.7.11 10:15) Hi Pete Reading through this, I just thought it worth a mention that Steven Sigers did, as mentioned, end up in Mill Hill and I worked in John Laings at Page Street at the time so was a regular visitor. I always loved the tagline on the shop 'Steven Siger - The Vinyl Resting Place'. The guy was encyclopeadic when you asked him something. I think its so much less when buying a CD rather than an LP. The LP was an entire event .... the sleeve, the inner sleeve, maybe a lyric sheet and all those notes on the sleeve. Even the label was an event (I loved the vertigo ones from Thin Lizzy and Quo). Then it became CD's and anything in there was so small you couldnt read it. Now its a download world and you really get nothing but a listen for your money. Imagine paying for someone to sent a lot of bits and bytes down your phone line - how inferior it is; how unsatisfying it is; how old and I am! Chris p.s. I am sure I have some crap in the cupboard upstairs in a Loppylugs bag .. the green one! May be worth a scan! |

Heena Kausar (11.10.11 23:26) I use to live in Arnos Grove, very nice and quite place. Missed the hustle bustle of city there. The only rush I use to encounter was at peak times. Then I moved to Burnt Oak, but usually I use to spend my maximum time in Edgware, loved the place. I was there for 2 years only but it became my lifeline. Now I live with parents, its OK, but not like Edgware. I can't describe the feeling of loss. It is like any other part of London, but I don't know why I love it so much and miss it as well. |

misterhyde (7.12.11 11:21) Very nice post. I too used to live in Edgware and before I go any further, sorry Jon G, I believe I was Jackie Sieger's first love and have regretted ever since messing her about. She was something really special, believe me. I left Edgware in the back end of the 70's and have returned vary rarely in the interim years. What a dump it has become, especially as it was such a great place to live. Just think about the choice of menswear shops that there were, it was fantastic. The Ivy shop, Belt Up, Fellla's, Gatti, Mandate, it was incredible. I would be buying my Lotus or Bass loafers from John Simons at the Ivy whilst my dad would be shopping for his Gabicce polo at either Sylvestor's or Jaque's. A coffee and a chat with Marissa and Rino at Dino's before targeting in on an au pair who was a sure pull. I absolutely loved Edgware and believed it to be the best kept secret in the world. Thank you for this post and allowing me to reminisce a little about what were wonderful growing up years. |

Kane (16.5.12 16:13) I grew up In Stanmore and spent my youth and teenage years happily frequenting Edgware, I used to love as a child going to the old Belvue Cinema and sneaking sweets in purchased from woolworths with my friends, I have been away from Stanmore now for almost 8 years. I returned to visit family in Hemel a couple of years ago and was shocked by the state of what Edgware and Stanmore had become, it felt grey and dirty, the life I had once felt from these places as a teen had gone, old haunts like yours lay empty or changed its sad to think that the best parts of someones hometown now lie as simple fading memories, younger generations never knowing what It once was like, the cost of supposed progress that said at least Michael and his BK Salt Beef Bar are still there. |

" Burnt Oak Boot Boys " guaranteed a good punch up. I agreed with Dave Miller.
